Silent Bath

Silent Bath

Today, God.

All I can do today
is sit hunched over in silence
hoping You’ll pour something
Your love
Your word
Yourself
over me.

My hands are too heavy to lift the cup to my mouth
to pick up the fork.

My only hope is Your grace

Soaking into my hair
and drizzling into my eyes,
Running over my shoulders
and down between my breasts,
bathing me.

My only hope
is that you can penetrate my skin.

My only hope
is that you will saturate me
even in my silence.

Bathe me, Lord.
